what we do…
In 2023 Katie Kirkenmeier Therapy, LLC opened the doors to it’s private practice, specializing in infertility, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and balancing the mental load and invisible labor between partners. Katie completed training in EMDR and is currently in the process of certification. Katie is a Certified Fair Play Facilitator, a Registered Art Therapist, and has completed Level 1 of the Internal Family Systems training. Katie has been trained through the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and is a member of their Mental Health Professionals Group. She is trained to complete third party reproduction consultations.
Katie's practice primarily incorporates IFS and EMDR. She enjoys working with those experiencing infertility, parents in the transition to parenthood, pregnancy loss, and birth trauma. She enjoys helping individuals process through trauma and better understand its impact on ways it still impacts functioning and how we experience our bodies.

Katie is a fully licensed clinical professional counselor and registered art therapist in the Kansas City metro and has 10+ years of clinical experience. Katie received her master's degree from Adler University in Chicago after feeling connected to the program's passion for social justice. Katie began her career as a therapist at a rape crisis center in the Chicagoland area. She worked with survivors of sexual violence for four years before moving to Kansas City and continuing her work in sexual violence for 3 more years before transitioning into working exclusively with healthcare workers during the pandemic. During the transition from Chicago to Kansas City, Katie and her partner experienced infertility and after finding it difficult to find adequate therapeutic support she became passionate about helping others going through infertility and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
