The Holding Space KC
what we do…
The Holding Space is here to help the whole family in the transition to parenthood- from those desiring to be parents to those in the depths of parenthood. The transition to parenthood is one of significant change whether you’re a single parent, newlywed, or have been coupled for years.

Taylor Ulrey is a fully licensed marriage and family therapist practicing in the field since 2015. She completed a postgraduate training program in Seattle in Medical Family Therapy, where she completed her medical externship training at the Swedish Day Program for Perinatal Bonding and Support, which serves parents and their infants who are struggling with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders at the partial-hospitalization level. She is certified in perinatal mental health. She teaches student therapists at the graduate level as they begin their careers. Taylor is also certified in EMDR, an evidence-based treatment for trauma, OCD, and anxiety. She works with individuals, couples, and parent-infant pairs.
Taylor's areas of focus are perinatal bereavement, managing the stress of a high-risk pregnancy and delivery, healing birth and NICU trauma, reprocessing childhood trauma and toxic relationships with parents, and helping couples get back on the same page during the transition to parenthood. She practices from an attachment, EFT, DBT, and EMDR lens while rooted in social justice.
In January 2025, Taylor and Rachel Hills with Maternal Mental Health KC opened the doors of The Tea House Perinatal Therapy & Wellness with the goal of expanding and opening community of providers with services to wrap around families in addition to specialty mental health support.
